After making some reports about the
need to implement in the company XYZ a proprietary ERP software, or opt for an
open source solution and alternatives in your SaaS deployment model, and
various other related solutions ERP II type oriented to know the functionality
required by XYZ, we want to analyze other important issues in order to reach a
conclusion on the ERP of free software to choose. Although there is a multitude
of already mentioned ('The market for ERP free software') alternatives, I will
focus on an analysis of Acumatica vs OpenERP, knowing that we must not allow
belittling other important solutions such as Dolibarr, Abanq, ERP5, Compiere ,
Compiere, Neogia, Apache OFBiz, xTuple, Opentaps, etc. These alternatives, many
of them would not meet any additional requirements to be exposed below and that
are necessary for XYZ, but always be interesting to its pre-study making a decision.
The comments that follow are based on a cursory analysis of
these needs, based primarily on the information posted on its corporate
website, wiki grassy, etc. The allocation of points is purely subjective in
terms of my perception of importance.
OpenERP vs Acumatica
Given the volume of data to be entered, you need a very
agile in data entry and user productivity ERP. Acumatica and OpenERP offer both a modern and agile web
interface, rather parameterization and adaptability to the user.
Acumatica has a competitive advantage here in that it
supports the configuration of custom forms without requiring programming, so
you can create data entry screens based solely on the fields needed by the
user. If however, OpenERP has another advantage in that it also has desktop
version.

In this case, outperforms OpenERP Acumatica, to have a broader

chats, scrum meetings with collaborative editing, etc.
As for the production module, again at this point seems
superior OpenERP, providing also Gantt views and advanced production capacity
versus load to detect bottlenecks analysis. Also it integrates with other
modules such as purchasing, sales, procurement, accounting, etc. However, Acumatica
has two important features that are missing from OpenERP, plans machine
maintenance and management of product quality. Acumatica also adds additional
functionality in their professional version.

Acumatica offers a professional edition with extended
functionality in some of the modules, a level of premium support and additional
usability levels. It also has an extensive network of partners around the world
with the capacity to implement and adapt the tool to the specific needs of each
company.
Openerp you lose points in this aspect, because you do not
have a professional version with additional functions. However, you have more
than 1000 modules that complement the tool to the needs of each company. It has
a network of partners in number like Acumatica in Spain but much more extensive
in the world, and either through them or directly with the house own you can
hire specialized support.

integrated into its core all fully integrated and plotted with the operations
of the sales and purchase management accounting and financial required
functionality.
